Cabletron has developed a comprehensive line of Ethernet transceiversthat give network planners unlimited media flexibility when connectingone or more nodes to a network. Because Cabletron manufactures standard-based transceivers for all the popular media types (shielded/unshieldedtwisted pair, fiber-optic, and coaxial cable), network planners haveendless wiring options. Featured on all of Cabletron's transceivers aremultiple network configuration options that utilize a user-selectableswitch to enable or disable the SQE (heartbeat) test. With this switch,the transceivers can be connected to a repeater or to different levels ofEthernet specifications. In addition, each transceiver features LANVIEWonboard diagnostic indicators -- a series of LEDs that allow for quickdetection of network problems.All Ethernet transceivers are compatible with IEEE 802.3 standards,including: ST-500 Ethernet Transceiver for connection to thin or thickcoaxial cables, TPT Twisted Pair Transceiver for 10BASE-T standard, FOTF-1 Fiber Optic Transceiver with SMA connectors, FOTF-2 Fiber OpticTransceiver with ST connectors, MT-800 Multiport Transceiver thatcombines eight individual transceivers, and TMS-3 for low-cost connectionto thin Ethernet cable.
